FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You Ask, We Answer.

Programs & Classes

WHAT TYPES OF CLASSES DO YOU OFFER?

At Positive Dance Experience, we offer a wide range of classes designed to suit all ages and skill levels. Our programs include Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap, Lyrical, Acro Dance, Musical Theatre, PMX Pilates for Dancers, Jumps & Turns, and Parent & Dancer classes. Whether your child is just starting out, exploring different styles, or training intensively, our carefully structured classes provide a supportive environment to build technique, confidence, and a lifelong love of dance.

WHAT AGE GROUPS DO YOUR CLASSES CATER TO?

We love welcoming dancers of all ages! Our classes start as early as 18 months for our littlest movers, and continue all the way through to teens and adults (18+). No matter your age or experience, there’s a place for you here.

ARE YOUR COURSES SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS?

Absolutely! We love welcoming beginners and creating a space where everyone feels comfortable starting their dance journey. Our classes are supportive, encouraging, and designed to help you grow at your own pace, no experience needed.

If you’re looking for more advanced training, we also offer higher-level classes and a competitive team, which are available by director discretion. For dancers who want more personalized support, we offer private lessons that can be tailored to any level.

We’re also excited to be introducing beginner and intermediate classes for adults next season, so it’s never too late to start!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGULAR CLASSES AND INTENSIVE COURSES?

Our regular classes run weekly throughout the year and are designed for consistent, progressive training at a variety of levels. These classes are typically grouped by age to help create the best possible learning environment and experience for each dancer.

Our Summer Intensives are a more focused and immersive experience. They run for one week in the summer from 9:00am-4:00pm, offering approximately 35 hours of training in just one week, similar to what you might receive over the course of a full month of regular classes. Because of this, intensives are designed to be more fast-paced and are ideal for dancers looking to grow quickly and stay active over the summer.

Intensives are currently offered for Pre-Junior, Junior & Pre-Intermediate, and Intermediate & Senior dancers who are ready to level up their training.

If you’re not sure whether an intensive, or which class, is the right fit, we’re always happy to help guide you. Just reach out anytime.

CAN I TRY A CLASS BEFORE ENROLLING?

We completely understand that committing to a full session is a big decision. Since all registrations are non-refundable, we highly recommend starting with a trial class to make sure the program feels like the right fit for you or your dancer.

We offer trial periods throughout the year, 4 weeks in the fall, 2 weeks in the winter, and 2 weeks in the spring, so you have plenty of opportunities to experience our classes. If you decide to continue after your trial, your session will be prorated, allowing you to move forward with confidence.

HOW LONG IS EACH CLASS/SESSION?

Class lengths vary depending on the program and age group. We offer 30, 45, 60, and 90-minute classes, all thoughtfully designed to suit each dancer’s stage, focus, and energy level.

Summer & Specialty Camps

WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR SUMMER DANCE CAMPS?

We offer a variety of summer camps for different age groups, so there’s something for everyone!

  • Musical Theatre Camp (July 13-17): Ages 8–12
  • K-Pop Demon Hunters Camp (July 20-24): Ages 3–5 & 6–10
  • K-Pop Demon Hunters Camp (August 10-14): Ages 3–5
  • Taylor Swift Camp (August 17-21): Ages 3–5 & 6–10
  • Dance Camp (August 31-September 4): Ages 5–8

All camps run from 9:00am-4:00pm and are designed to be fun, engaging, and age-appropriate for every group

WHAT SKILL LEVELS ARE YOUR SUMMER INTENSIVES SUITABLE FOR?

Our Summer Intensives are designed for dancers who are ready for focused, high-energy training and want to grow quickly over a short period of time. We offer different intensive groups to match each stage of development, including Pre-Junior, Junior & Pre-Intermediate, and Intermediate & Senior levels.

Because of the pace and training load, intensives are best suited for dancers with some prior experience, though each level is carefully structured to meet dancers where they are. If you’re unsure whether an intensive is the right fit, or which level to choose—we’re always happy to help guide you

HOW LONG DO CAMPS RUN EACH DAY?

Our summer camps run from 9:00am to 4:00pm each day, with a full schedule of dancing, creative activities, games, and breaks throughout the day to keep dancers happy and energized.

If you require before or after care, this can be arranged in advance, please be sure to let us know ahead of time so we can accommodate your needs.

Enrollment & Registration

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR CLASSES OR CAMPS?

You can easily register online by selecting the appropriate age group for classes, or by visiting our Summer Camps section and choosing the specific camp you’re interested in. From there, just follow the prompts to complete your registration.

If you prefer, you’re always welcome to call or email us, we’re happy to help guide you through the process or answer any questions along the way.

ARE THERE ANY REGISTRATION DEADLINES?

Yes, registration timelines vary depending on the program. For our competitive team, the typical registration deadline is May 29th.

For our regular programs, we encourage families to register during our trial periods to ensure the best fit before committing.

If you’re unsure about timing or availability, feel free to reach out, we’re always happy to help guide you.

IS THERE A WAITING LIST IF A CLASS IS FULL?

Yes, we do maintain a waitlist. Since we offer enrolment by session (Fall, Winter, Spring) as well as full-year registration, spaces can occasionally become available if a student withdraws or does not re-enrol. When this happens, we reach out to families on the waitlist to offer the spot.

We keep our class sizes small, typically around 12 students per class, so each dancer receives the attention, support, and guidance they need to thrive.

CAN I SWITCH CLASSES AFTER REGISTERING?

While we do not offer refunds, we truly want every dancer to feel comfortable, supported, and happy in their class. If you feel a different class may be a better fit, please reach out to us as soon as possible. We will do our best to help find a more suitable placement based on availability and class capacity.

Please note that any changes must be made within the open registration period for that session. We’re always here to help guide you toward the best experience for your dancer, we will do our best but a switch is not guaranteed. Trials are always recommended to ensure the best fit.

DO YOU OFFER TRIAL CLASSES OR DROP-IN OPTIONS?

Yes, we offer both trial classes and drop-in options.

Our drop-in classes are specific classes that are available on a flexible basis and may vary by season, with additional drop-in offerings often available during the summer. Drop-ins are a great way to experience our studio, get a feel for our classes, and add a little extra training into your schedule when time allows alongside your regular classes.

We also offer trial classes throughout the year, which give dancers the opportunity to try a full class before enrolling and ensure it’s the right fit.

If you’re not sure which option is best, we’re always happy to help guide you!

Pricing & Payment

DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?

Yes, we aim to be flexible, accommodating, and accessible wherever possible.

We do require a credit card on file for all payment plans, and we’re happy to work with you to create a payment schedule that suits your needs. For full-year enrolment, we typically offer either two instalments or a month-to-month plan.

In some cases and under special circumstances, session-based payment arrangements may also be considered. For session enrolments, all payments must be completed by the first of the final month of that session. For full-year plans, all payments must be fully completed by May 1st.

Please note that a 4% service charge applies to payment plans, as this is a financed option and our processing system charges a fee for this service.

DO YOU HAVE AN ENROLMENT FEE?

Yes, we have a small enrolment fee per dancer that helps cover administration, registration, and insurance.

There is a $50 initial enrolment fee when you first join. After that, a $25 re-enrolment fee applies each time you return for a new session. If you enrol in our full-year program, you only pay the initial enrolment fee once, and you also save on tuition compared to paying per session, making it a great value for ongoing dancers.

DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS?

No, we do not offer refunds in line with our studio policies. All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Because of this, we strongly encourage dancers to take part in a trial class first to ensure the program is the right fit before committing. If you choose not to continue after enrolling, that is completely your decision, however fees are non-refundable.

If any issues or concerns arise, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we’re always here to support you and will do our very best to help find a solution wherever possible.

IS THE YEAR END PERFORMANCE MANDATORY?

Yes, for full-year dancers the year-end performance is mandatory.

This is an important part of a dancer’s growth and development, giving them the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned, build confidence, and be part of a shared team experience. It also helps ensure that no dancer feels left out, as much of our spring session is dedicated to preparing for this performance. When dancers choose not to participate, it can make the experience more challenging for the rest of the class.

If you have any concerns or special circumstances, please reach out.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ENROLLING FOR THE WHOLE YEAR AND BY SESSION?

Enrolling for the full year means your dancer has a secured spot for the entire season, which provides consistency, stability, and peace of mind. It also includes a one-time enrolment fee and offers savings on tuition compared to paying per session.

Session-based enrolment means you register for one term at a time. In this case, the re-enrolment fee applies each session, and spaces are not automatically held for the following term, so availability may vary.

Full-year enrolment is a great option for ongoing progression and securing your dancer’s place, while session enrolment offers more flexibility depending on your needs.
